Richard Adams

Richard has managed a twin-track career. Since 1990 he has worked in education and interactive. He was a producer of interactive TV, Mobile and Online entertainment in both adult and youth markets. He began his working life as a schoolteacher (working with kids from 7 to 18) bringing computing into his Art and Music departments. He has since founded the Digital Arts Department at Thames Valley University (UWL), creating two undergraduate and 2 postgraduate degrees in Digital Arts. He was an external examiner at two universities, and held a Visiting Professorship in Digital Media at Salford University. Most recently he co-founded and was Principal of the School of Communication Arts. SCA2 is a radical industry-backed social enterprise using brand new models of learning and curriculum development to deliver an NVQ level 5 in Art Direction, Copywriting or Ideapreneurship, in less than a year. Richard understands how students of all ages learn and he understands how to engage them using a variety of models both traditional and radical. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a BAFTA member. He is an engaging and popular public speaker having spoken at over 40 conferences in the last ten years and is a published author. He is currently Digital Programme Manager at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
